Social & Emotional Support
in the Illawarra
Calm, respectful company that offers reassurance and consistency, without pressure or judgement.

Sometimes the most valuable support is simply a good, steady presence: someone who listens, who turns up when they say they will, and who does not need you to be anything other than yourself.
Social and emotional support is one-on-one time with someone who is there for you. A conversation over a cup of tea. A walk. Company on a hard day. A regular visit that breaks up a long week. It is not therapy and it is not clinical care; it is reliable human connection, offered with respect.
Consistency you can rely on
Isolation grows in the gaps: the days when nobody calls and there is nothing on. A regular visit from the same person closes those gaps. You know when I am coming, and I know how you like to spend the time. Over weeks and months that familiarity becomes trust, and trust is what makes the support useful.
Being present, not pushing
There is no agenda in these visits beyond what you want from them. Some people like to talk; some prefer to do something side by side, like a puzzle, a garden job or a walk. If you are having a low day, we go at that day’s pace. If you feel like getting out, we go out.
Working alongside other supports
Where you have a psychologist, counsellor, GP or other health professional involved, this support sits alongside their work, never in place of it. With your permission I can help you keep track of appointments and follow through on the practical things they suggest.
Every visit can include
- Regular one-on-one visits at a time that suits you
- Conversation, company and a listening ear
- Shared activities: walks, hobbies, games, gardening
- Gentle encouragement to reconnect with people and places
- Reassurance and steady support on harder days
- Practical follow-through on advice from your health team
How it works
Getting started is simple.
Build your plan
A short questionnaire covers your needs, goals, routines and preferences. Fill it in privately or together, whichever feels more comfortable.
Align expectations
We have a relaxed conversation to clarify the details, answer your questions, and make sure we're both clear on what good support looks like for you.
Ongoing support
Support starts, one-on-one, with clear communication and the flexibility to adjust as your needs change over time.
Questions
About this support.
Is this counselling?
No. I do not provide clinical or therapeutic services. This is practical, respectful companionship and support that works alongside any professional care you receive.
What do we actually do during a visit?
Whatever helps you. Many people like a routine, such as a walk and a coffee, or time in the garden. Others just want a chat. We work it out together and adjust as we go.
Can this be funded under the NDIS?
Social and community participation supports are often included in NDIS plans. It is also available privately.
